Update on Stuff about Cooper

My family has always had the ability to take a negative situation and sadness and do somthing positive with it, to make a difference for someone else.

First I want to share a link with you

http://www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/vth/blood_donor.shtm

This is a blood Donner program for animals, The University of Guelph takes blood donations from your dog, and gives some perks like a checkup, yearly vacinations, heartworm protection, and some Doggie food and treats. Please consider taking your dog here if you have one. It can help these vets save someones family member.

Also my mom has started to do the same, using her voice to help Cooper make a difference. She contacted John Crass,Manager of Traffic Sevice in Burlington, to discuss how the growth of our neighbourhood has effected saftey on Industrial St. My mother strongly belives that if that car hadn't been speeding ( like they all the cars on our street do) Cooper would have had a chance. She asked me to email my Blog info to him, to back what she has said and to show whats happened , and I have, I do hope John Crass reads it.

The fact is there are alot of children who live on that street, It also is a neighbourhood bus drop area for school buses, and one end of the street has a park. There is also a Residence for people with mental impairments as well. This could have been far worse than a dog, my Mother said The Manager of traffic sevices assured her that they would start to take some action to make the street safer.

They Just Drove Off....

My Dad has temporarily been living in a place where he wasn't alowed to bring his dog Cooper, and asked my sister and mother to take care of him.Cooper is a mix of golden lab and White Shephard, all energy and cuddles, he has helped my dad through some major changes and depression. My dad was hoping on finding a new place that the two of them that they could live in in the new year, after he resovles some of the problems he has been dealing with.

So about 5 weeks ago he left the dog, tearfully, and would only come back to see him once he got a place for both of them. Everyone felt it would be best for the dog if he doesn't keep seeing my dad and coming and going like a visitor. We didn't want to build a separation anxiety in Cooper, we wanted him to just have a fun and stable house. And he has had a great time. As much as my sister and mother tried not to fall in love with this dog, knowing they would have to give him back, they have both fallen in love with him against their will, that deepest kind of care you can feel for someone, when they are like family.

This evening, with his boundless energy, he got out of the yard, he ran like it was a game, and he ran out into the street, and he got hit by a car, right infront of my sister.

The people who hit Cooper, just drove off while my sister craddled this injured dog on the side of the road. I can't belive they just drove off without finding out the fate of the dog.

My sisters boyfriend ran into the house and started calling emergency vetrenary clinincs, and two other kind people stopped to help my sister, as my mom came home theyhelped load the dog into the car and took him to the vet. My mother never got the name of the people who stopped, but she says they were wonderful.

Cooper was bleeding alot, and his heart kept stopping, but he kept trying to live. The had to preform CPR, give him drugs. But finally his eyes clouded over. My dads dog has been killed.

Whats worse is the complex emotions left behind. My sisters and mothers love for the dog and grief, mixed with guilt that they couldn't take care of my fathers most precious posession. My Father hurting knowing thier hurt with guilt, wishing they didn't have to feel it, clouding his time to grieve for the loss of his best friend.

And the person who I hope does feel the most, but probably doesn't, is the one who drove off without finding out the full extent of what they have been involved in.

I'm most worried about my sister, I know how deeply she can feel things, and I can't imagine how deeply upset she is right now.

Andrew and I went over to offer what comfort we could. I arrived while they were trying to get laundry going to get what bloodstains out of their coats that they could. My mother and sister were both sobing. One moment they would put somthing out of site that beloged to the dog, next they would cherish a pair of mittens covered in his fur. Andrew and I stayed until they both decided it was time to try and sleep.

When we left the house went out to the road, and we covered over the frozen puddle of blood with fresh snow where my sister held Cooper. We couldn't get the rest of it off the street. I think seeing the blood is what shook me up, this was an amazing dog, I even have a Christmas present wrapped for him back at home that I was excited to give him. I don't know writing all this down has helped me with what I'm feeling right now, but thankyou for taking the time to read it, and it's time for me to go to bed now too.

Goodnight

Brain Teaser

Ok ... So this one is slighlty reminicent of labyrinth, but can you get it right?

You are traveling through a Forrest inhabited by 2 tribes; the Truth Tellers and the Liars.

The Truth Tellers always tell the truth and provide a safe haven for travelers during the night while the liars (who are fierce cannibals) never tell the truth and like nothing better than chowing down on lost travelers.

It's getting late and you come to a fork in the road; one path leads to the truth tellers village and the other leads to the liars village.

There are no signs to point you in the right direction, but there is a man from one of the villages who you could ask for directions. The only problem is you don't know if he is a truth teller or a liar.

You can only ask him one question. What question do you ask to find out which path leads to the truth tellers village?

4 Day Weekends!

I just noticed I didn't make it public on my blog....

I Quit the Call Centre job a while back! ( big applause for me)

I much preferred the money from having 2 jobs, but I didn't like the stress of juggling them and little flexibility. It can really build up the stress a person feels. So it was time for me to pick one of them to leave. One was dead end, offered me more hours, but bad pay and killed the soul. The other offered great experience, a maximum of part time hours, pay that equaled 35 hours at the other job.At the end of the day, you can walk away feeling that you made a difference.

I now have a job helping immigrants to find employment 3 days a week. It's paying me a lot more than the call centre was, But I'd prefer at least one more shift so I can save some money.

This means I have 4 day weekends, but not much pocket cash to spend ( or save). I am determined to do something with these weekends that is productive. But it is hard to do that without spending a fortune.

Last Weekend I got out to see my first ever 3D movie at the Famous Players Imax Theatre in Missisauga. It was all my sisters idea, ( thanks Shannon) it was good to get out with her and Drew, I hope she'll come out with us more often.

This Weekend Adam and Jen Reserved tickets for us to see the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. I have been looking forward to this movie since I first got wind of it being in production. Hanging with Adam and Jen is pretty fun, Jen's got a great sense of humor ready to go and do anything, as long as it doesn't involve heights, and Adam is always filled with ideas and always comes up with interesting things to do.

4 Day weekends aren't all about movies though. They are about getting laundry done, Cleaning up the house, visiting Family, helping my grandmother and I'm hoping they also mean more time with friends. Today Drew and Kevin are gonna get together and fight. I havn't seen Kevin and Kerri for quite some time. We used to get together every weekend for these amazing dinners, a little harder now that they live in Kitchener.

Amanda has asked for us to maybe come visit her next weekend. I'm gonna try to get out there. London has lots to explore. Drew might have to work, so I'll just Bus it if I can go.

We also hope to get out to Oshawa sometime around the New year to Visit Chris, Charleene and their new Daughter Breanna. I haven't seen them in so long, Chris is the sort of person you can talk hours and hours with on a lazy weekend night, that is until you realize it's 4 in the morning.
